TransGlobe - Canada's no.1 company?

My problem with them in short:

  • The apartment was not ready, they were telling me a lie.
  • The apartment was dirty.
  • The garage fan is too noisy.
  • Construction around the building, without any notice!
  • It was not possible to move out within a year. (This is my problem with Canada I guess.)

  • These problems could have been solved, as I suggested possible solutions. But they never wanted to do anything, just get my money! It was hard to find anyone who is responsible for my case. It was difficult to contact to the property manager, and the building manager was useless. I tried to contact them several times, I even tried to get an appointment... but I got nothing. I even asked the Ontario Rental Housing Tribunal for legal advise. It turned out that once I signed my contract there is a little one can do...

    My story

I rented my apartment (407-758 Kipps Lane, London, Ontario) on 2005-Sept-3 (Saturday). That time it was under construction (so it was my mistake to rent it...), but I was told that it will be ready by noon 2005-Sept-4 (Sunday). Of course it was not ready! But I had to move in. When I entered that time I felt it far too noisy. The building manager showed me the source (fans) of the noise in the garage. Despite the noise the carpet was extremely warned and dirty (I was told on 2005-Sept-3 (Saturday) that it will be replaced by Sunday), and other things were dirty as well. On Monday (2005-Sept-5) I went to the property manager, who had not heard about any new carpet, and claimed that I am the first who complains about the noise.

After some "fight" on 2005-Sept-13 I got a new carpet. But the workers left my apartment without closing the door! Luckily nothing was missing.

They asked me to sign some paper to allow them to do the rest of the work within 30 days. But of course I have not signed!

I even got fired! But it turned out just a mistake, and I could not leave them in that reason. (I had a first month free offer. Most people get one months for free, and a good apartment as well.)

After 3 weeks they did some more work (no cleaning at all!), and I even got a card for the laundry machines. The building manager charged me 10$ for this card. Whoever I know got such a card for free...

In the beginning of March the started some construction under my apartment:

They let me know about this construction on 2006-May-8. (The letter was dated 2006-Apr-26....) They hope to finish it sometime Jun...

Of course after a year I will move out. And I should appreciate their sense of humour. They want it back clean... Just an example: they charge 75$ for a smoke detector, what they bought in a dollar shop for 10$...
